Why do you feel the PvE stuff is pushing you towards PvP. It's simply group play using the same dynamics as PvP, while not really being much like PvP (npc intelligence / improvisation for example)
and unless you got a different box and go to a different guildwars website than I do then it should have been fairly easy to discern that PvP is a large element of the game as a whole.
What you have is a game where you PvE until you peak at which point you continue to PvE for the fun / story / exploration whhatever or raise the stakes and prove your worth against real people for fame and glory .
in their words from the Game FAQ:
What kind of game is Guild Wars.
Guild Wars is a global online roleplaying game. Players can engage in cooperative group combat, in single player adventures, or in large head-to-head guild battles. Guild Wars is a mission-based game set in a stunning 3D fantasy world that offers excellent support for guilds. Because the team that is developing Guild Wars has had experience creating successful online game series such as Warcraft, StarCraft and Diablo, the members are familiar with the complex issues surrounding online games, and are creating a game that is both easy to learn and compelling to play long term, and yet does not require players to spend hundreds of hours slogging through the preparation just to get to the fun bits.
Is Guild Wars an MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game).
Guild Wars has some similarities to existing MMORPGs, but it also has some key differences. Like existing MMOs, Guild Wars is played entirely online in a secure hosted environment. Thousands of players inhabit the same virtual world. Players can meet new friends in gathering places like towns and outposts where they form parties and go questing with them. Unlike many MMOs, when players form a party and embark upon a quest in Guild Wars, they get their own private copy of the area where the quest takes place. This design eliminates some of the frustrating gameplay elements commonly associated with MMOs, such as spawn camping, kill stealing, and lines to complete a quest.
Guild Wars takes place in a large virtual world made up of many different zones, and players can walk from one end of the world to the other. In Guild Wars much of the tedium of traveling through the world has been eliminated. Players can instantly return to any safe area (town or outpost) that they have previously visited just by clicking on it in the world overview map.
Rather than labeling Guild Wars an MMORPG, we prefer to call it a CORPG (Competitive Online Role-Playing Game). Guild Wars was designed from the ground up to create the best possible competitive role-playing experience. Success in Guild Wars is always the result of player skill, not time spent playing or the size of one's guild. wow gold kaufen As characters progress, they acquire a diverse set of skills and items, enabling them to use new strategies in combat. Players can do battle in open arenas or compete in guild-vs-guild warfare or the international tournament. Engaging in combat is always the player's choice, however; there is no player-killing in cooperative areas of the world. cheap wow gold
Finally, unlike existing MMOs, all characters in Guild Wars inhabit the same virtual world -- they are not divided onto different servers or shards -- so players can always team up with or compete against any other player in the world.
Can my character be killed by other players.
While Guild Wars has player vs. mp3 players player combat, you are in control. You can choose to join in competitive missions and receive acclaim for winning against other gamers, or you can reap the rewards of solo adventures or cooperative team missions with an entirely different set of challenges.
Will the game have guild support. world of warcraft gold Will there be ladders and tournaments.
Guild Wars, as evidenced by its name, will have broad support for game guilds, including integrated support for worldwide tournaments and ladders, the ability for a guild to own and operate a guildhall, private guild forums, and more. You can find the current Guild Wars Ladder on this link. wow gold
Do you have to be in a guild to play Guild Wars.
Membership in a guild is not required to play Guild Wars. Assassin Guides Although there are many positive aspects to belonging to a guild, players will have access to a wide variety of solo adventuring possibilities as well as team cooperative and competitive missions that will ensure you of many of those gaming sessions that run into the wee hours, no matter your playing style. wow gold Missions will come in all sizes and difficulties and can be joined individually, as part of a one-time team or as a member of a full-fledged guild.

I noticed on Ebay that people are selling multiples of 20,000 or 50,000 or even 100k gold. They deliver in a little as 10 minutes.
How the heck do they do it. Even if you played even single minutes since the launch it's not possible.
SaborWolf
well it took me around 3 days at 2 or 3 solid hours each to rack up 35k which i chipped in for our guild hall, heres how i did it
in Elonas Reach: go out portal, equip sprint, mending w/ warrior/mo, and just run to other side of the desert plain, where the collector is, theres a wreckage, open it up, 2 or 3 items worth 30 and 40g each, turn right a bit and head down to the skeleton like graveyard, another wreckage, now cross all the way back over the plains staying against that hill you cant climb, another wreckage, then turn right again, into the bosses, another wreckage. that 3rd wreckage has gold in it only, anywhere from 50 to 200,, make as many runs as needed, sell your inventory to a merchant (or go to ascalon and be nice and sell it all for just 100g each)
another place i farm is outside camp rankor, i solo the blessed griffons, sell that stuff for about 40-50g each to merchants
and even another, which is ehhh since you might get an occasional rare
is go to droknars, as soon as you go out the south gate, youll notice a grawl, or 2, running, these grawl will not attack you if you knawed on their ankles, so follow them, they go through this small canyon, then there are groups of grawl, ignore them, follow that path east, hold ALT down so you dont miss it, theres a chest towards the dead end/before that path turns south, open it up, 3 or 4 items worth 30, 40, 50g each, and an occasional rare, do it as many times needed
Hurin66
Its not that hard really, even if you never farm by the time you beat the game you should have at least 50k+ probably.
If you account for the fact that major runes sell for about 2-4k and superior for about 10-15k. Also good weapons sell pretty high as well, last time I sold one I think I got like 5k for a 15-22 dragon sword.
Farming for Gold drops or garments to salvage is all possible.
Sigils :p.
Not really, considering that you need a team of 8 most likely all guild members to
have a good chance in HoH, that means profits split about 50k/8.
So even if you get multiple runs straight the time spent you probably would have made more gold farming.
The probability of holding HoH so long that all 8 players farming alone for that same amount of time would make less then the sigil gold is very low.
Then again tombs is fun vs farming which is not i suppose :winking47
September Timeside
If there's any reason not to have 20k it's because people are spending hours trying to sell some crappy 14-26 bow they got for 200g or so. Dealing with other players sucks. Period. I've sold purple items just because I would rather take 68g from a vendor than wait and argue with someone for thirty minutes to get 500 or so. I've salvaged everything I've got since I started, and I had my first platinum before I left pre-searing. buy wow gold And I don't even sell the stuff I salvage. I save it for myself. Pretty much I just sell rares or collectors items (collectors items quest goodies suck). mp3 players
Next rule of thumb is don't waste your money. Don't upgrade your armor if you don't have to, don't constantly be buying weapons just because they give 1 or 2 points more damage than the one you have (I was at Draknar's forge still wearing my LA armor).
Also, whatever you do, don't buy black dye. world of warcraft gold Once you're opulent and running fissure of woe runs all the time go for it. But if you feel like you need gold, for god's sake, no dye! bad! no!
Anyway, like I said, just don't think about money and it'll come to you. The rewards basically increase as you play, so focus on getting as far as you can. wow gold Salvaging everything, selling precious and collector items, I have managed to accumulate the following:
Full set of Droknar's forge armor (1. 5k a piece)
20k in the bank
4 nice rare/uncommon weapons (kept for trade value)
1 major vigor rune (kept for trade value)
and. wow gold hear this. wow gold kaufen
67 steel, 23 silk, 12 leather, 7 linen and 2 fur squares.
If Sold all that I would have well over 50k, and I never farmed a thing.
PS. stay away from the casinos.

Remember to use the Alt key and the Control key to see names of mobs (red), npcs (green), and ground objects (yellow). Oh, and non-aggressive mobs (also green, but turn red if attacked via area spell). The control key shows only the bad guys, and you can see their names as long as they are in your mini-map area, meaning you can see through hills to see just how many charr are in that blob of red!
Also while holding down either Control or Alt, you can target something, though be careful when you do this because you will automatically start moving towards the target as long as there is an obvious path available. Of course this is useful when you are looking for a merchant or storage agent. You can interrupt your movement by moving manually.
The ""u"" key opens a mini version of the full map, which you can resize to be as large as you want. It is just like the main map (opened by hitting ""m"") so it has your walking trail as red dots, and the quest target marked if it's within the visible map area. It's very useful when you are trying to retrace your steps, and it doesn't stop you from moving like viewing the main map.
You CAN run away from mobs, in most circumstances (this doesn't always seem to be the case, but heck you might as well try when you can). Most of them well give up on chasing you after a short distance. I don't recommend doing this as a habit in post-searing, where mobs crawl up out of the ground and ambush you as you run by. There are no death penalties in pre-searing Ascalon (hurrah!) but don't get too cocky since you start getting them in the post-searing world.
Item colors are in this order from least to greatest rarity: white, blue, purple, gold. You probably won't see any purple or gold items in pre-searing Ascalon.
I recommend keeping an identification kit and a salvaging kit in your inventory once you can afford them. However I don't recommend salvaging items unless they say they are ""highly salvageable,"" or unless absolutely necessary to clear out your inventory.
Get the belt pouch as soon as possible, via collecting the appropriate item (skale fins or worn belts). This will give you 5 extra slots of inventory space. You'll notice there are 2 bag slots in your inventory screen - but you won't be able to purchase them until the post-searing stage.
Quest Hints
This is not a walkthrough by any means - we won't be going over every single quest in pre-searing, mostly because the quests are not that difficult to figure out! However here are some tips for a few quests:
Gwen
She's just a little girl looking for a new hero to admire. I don't think anyone has figured out her full purpose, but you can give her the following items (in this order):
Gwen's broken flute (found by the river skale isle across the river just SE) - She'll ask you for this one initially.
Flute (available at any merchant)
Small Girl's Cape (available at any merchant)
5 Red Iris Flowers (ground spawn)
After all that she gives you a Tapestry Shred - that's the last step I know about. If you have her follow you, she will heal you every now and then for 20 HP. I don't know what you do with the shred though. mp3 players I've found Gwen's broken flute again in post-searing, and no clue what to do with it. Perhaps we will see her again later on. I'll update this guide if I find out anything!
UPDATE: It appears that at least for monks, the broken flute doesn't appear. world of warcraft gold Gwen is part of the starting quest for monks. However you can still give her 5 flowers and she will give you the tapestry shred. I'm going to look into whether she gives you the tapestry independently of the other items, for a class other than monk. wow Also, I will have to look into the fact that sometimes the merchants charge for the flute and cape -- 4 gold for the flute and 200 gold for the cape. However I have seen it on the merchants for 0 gold. These could be bugs that have been ""fixed"" or this may be just for monks. wow gold
Gift for Althea
Captain Osric (who is right outside of Ascalon, just west) asks you to find the most beautiful gift for Lady Althea. You might be frustrated when you find something beautiful and give it to him, and he thinks there's something more beautiful. Well the truth is, there are 3 beautiful items to find, in whatever order, and the last one you give him will do nicely. wow gold Go figure.
Beautiful Pearl (in a Beautiful Shell on the shore of the small lake by Miller Upton)
Beautiful Feather (on a hill in one of the farms by Ashford Abbey)
Beautiful Pendant (found on top of the path on the hilly area between Ascalon City and Ashford Abbey, SW of the city)
NOTE: This quest is only available if you have done the mesmer quest from Lady Althea to kill the rogue bull. She gives you mesmer spells, so you cannot have already picked a secondary profession, unless of course you are a mesmer already (or secondary mesmer). wow gold kaufen
Poor Tenant (at Miller Upton)
You use a honeycomb to lure bees across the bridge. This is probably the first quest you will see that has you transporting an object.

This is a fairly complicated build to setup because of equipment, but it makes running Droks very simple. I have tested it multiple times, just to make sure that the first time through wasn't a fluke, and so far I've been 5 for 5 with it.
Equipment
Armor:
Max armor, Mysticism Hood. I used a superior vigor, but the way the runs went it didn't seem essential. As far as runes you will need a major mysticism, major earth prayers, minor wind prayers, and a Rune of Vitae or Attuenment, either is fine. For insignias, the only one that I would very highly recomend is a Windwalker's Insignia for your chest piece. You can use Radiant or Survivor Insignias if you want, just for a little extra energy and health on the remaining pieces of armor.
Weapons:
I used a totem axe, but any simmilar one handed weapon will work, as long as it has +20% enchanting(18% or 19% will work too if you you have one laying around). I used a modded offhand with +45 health w/enchanted and Halves Recharge of Spells 10%, but if you dont have something like that laying around one of the offhands that you can craft at Droknar's Forge that gives +45 Health and +5 Armor w/enchanted should work just fine.
Attributes These are all with the runes included.
Mysticism: 15 (you can keep this at 14 but no lower, i just used 15 for the extra energy when the enchants end)
Earth Prayers: 10
Wind Prayers: 11
Protection Prayers: 2
Skills:
Vow of Silence 5 energy, 1 second cast, 10 second recharge(Enchantment): For 10 Seconds,12 with the weapon, you cannot be the target of spells, or cast spells. (this needs to be the LAST spell you cast before you start running, im not gonna explain why, you can figure that out) This only needs to go up when you are around imps and golems, and those damn heretics. As long as you cast this right before you run into a group the 12 seconds should be plenty of time to clear 1 or 2 groups, and then you just need to stop for a second to recast it.
Fleeting Stability 10 energy, 1 second cast, 10 second recharge(Enchantment): For 18 seconds, about 22 with the weapon, you cannot be knocked, if this enchantment lasts its full duration you are knocked down. Well you arent gonna let that happen, it can be recast in 10 seconds and if you renew it you dont get knocked down. moving on
Signet of Pious Light 1 second cast 20 second recharge(Signet): Lose 1 enchantment. Heal target ally for 90 health, if an enchantment was removed this way the signet recharges immediately. This is a saftey skill for the build, you can use this to remove Vow of Silence if you forgot to recast one of your other enchants and it will recharge immediately, plus it gives you a little extra healing.
Enchanted Haste 5 energy 25 recharge(Stance): For 16 seconds you run 25% faster if you are under the effects of an enchantment. This one should explain itself.
Featherfoot Grace 10 energy 1/4 second cast 20 second recharge(Enchantment): For 16 seconds you move 25% faster and conditions on you expire 50% faster. This is the running skill that you want up when you are running through a group with pinesouls just incase you hit their traps You can use Mend Ailment for the cripple and and just let the bleeding run out on its own since its cut short. mp3 players
Harrier's Haste 5 energy 20 second recharge(Stance): For 12 seconds you move 25% faster. Just an all purpose running skill.
Vital Boon 5 energy 1 second cast 8 second recharge(Enchantment): For 20 seconds you have +80 health when it ends you are healed for 158 health. world of warcraft gold Not much to explain here.
Mend Ailment 5 energy 3/4 second cast 5 energy(Spell): Remove one condition (poison, disease, blindness, dazed, bleeding, crippled or Deep Wound) from target ally. For each remaining condition, that ally is healed for 14 health. wow
I'm not going to get too in-depth about the run itself, just a couple key spots.
Lonars
1. Wurm cave: When you get to the area in lonars with the imp patrol, you have 2 choices, wait for them to run away and take a second to get all of your enchants up, or if you end up with one of those ""Wall of imps"" spawns, put on VoS, vital boon, and make a run for it to a spot where you can setup for the rest. wow gold When you are ready to run through the cave you should put up your enchants in this order: Fleeting Stability -> Vital Boon -> VoS. Once you make it out of the cave itself, hit SoPL to cancel VoS if it hasn't worn off yet, and immediately recast fleeting stability, then recast VoS. Run like hell through the golem and pinesoul group right ahead of you, stop to recast VoS if needed, but it shouldn't be. wow gold kaufen
2. Wurm Alley: You wont need VoS here. Just keep up Fleeting Stability, and alternate your running skills. wow power leveling You will run into a few Groups of Grawl. don't get close to them, they will use chillbains and strip fleeting.

Differences between hard mode and normal PvE
In general, hard mode can be described as normal PvE, just harder. However, it is useful to know the exact changes when planning the builds and strategies to be used. Enemies differ both in their AI and raw power:
Monsters in hard mode are of a higher level (minimum level 20) compared to their normal mode counterparts.
Monsters have a 33 to 50 percent shorter casting duration, faster movement and faster attack speed.
In terms of AI:
Monsters in hard mode respond and escape from AoE damage more quickly.
Monsters in hard mode will be more likely to kite for longer periods of time.
Melee monsters in hard mode avoid focusing their attacks on one target.
All of these changes are meant to make monsters harder, but they can also be exploited. For example, a 50% faster attack speed means 50% more damage dealt to your party. At the same time, it also means 50% more damage dealt by hexes like Spiteful Spirit and Empathy.
Team build
As a rule of thumb, only the most efficient PvE builds will do for hard mode. Many sub-optimal builds are still able to complete the normal mode missions; hard mode, however, is less forgiving. Also, while using one general-purpose build for all areas might do for normal mode, in hard mode it becomes much more important to adapt your build to the special situation at hand. Check beforehand on the type of enemies you will be facing (melee or casters. hex spam or condition spam. ) and alter your build accordingly.
Since monsters have much higher health in hard mode, your party will need to deal much more damage to them. Since you might need more healing and interrupts as well, only the very best builds in terms of damage output should be used. Because of the harder damage coming your way, the same is true for your monk builds: More healing output is needed. Because the damage in hard mode can at times resemble the spikes of PvP, it might be worthwhile to look to PvP monk builds for inspiration on how to counter this. Light of Deliverance monks with Infuse Health or Blessed Light protectors have been found to be quite effective. Also, the higher attribute levels and faster casting/attacking make damage prevention more important. Interrupts and all kinds of anti-melee skills will become very useful.
One or more skilled rangers using traps can give your team an initial advantage, often even killing a few enemies before combat even starts. mp3 player Minion masters are also useful, but only if your team provides corpses fast enough, otherwise it may be better to bring a different character.
The Enemies
Your playstyle should revolve around the AI: Counter its advantages and exploit its disadvantages.
The AI will kite away from your melee fighters. world of warcraft gold Bring along snares to counter this if you field melee fighters.
Use the AIs fast response to AoE as a means of dispersing enemies (if needed) and do not use AoE if you want your enemies clustered.
This means that if using Fire Storm, the enemy shall back out. wow Mostly used when a party member is in trouble.
The AI will not focus on one target. Bring skills which protect more than one target (e. wow gold g. Aegis or Ward Against Melee) or those which recharge faster.
Due to their higher level, monsters hit much harder. wow gold Skills that prevent extreme damage (e. g. Protective Spirit) or such that outright cancel damage (Reversal of Fortune) are more useful compared to those that restore health after the attack than they are in normal mode. wow gold At the same time, higher monster levels make all skills that benefit from having an enemy with higher health more useful. The same goes for all armor-ignoring skills since the enemies also have better armor than they do in normal mode.
